KMTC entry requirements

KMTC admission requirements are based on cluster points derived from the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams.

Even so, minimum entry grades differs by programme and level of study:

  • Diploma Programmes: A minimum KCSE mean grade of C (plain), with relevant subject combinations depending on your chosen course.
  • Certificate Programmes: A minimum KCSE mean grade of C- (minus), again with specific cluster subject requirements.
  • Higher Diploma Programmes: Applicants must hold a Diploma in the relevant field from a recognised institution.
  • Upgrading Courses: Candidates must hold a Certificate in the respective field.

For instance, to qualify for the popular Diploma in Nursing, you need a KCSE mean grade of C with a C in English or Kiswahili, Biology, and either Mathematics or Physics.

KMTC admissions process

KMTC intakes are held twice a year, in March and September. Here is a step-by-step overview of the admission process:

  • Visit www.kmtc.ac.ke or the KUCCPS portal and create an account.
  • Select your preferred course and campus (for parallel students).
  • Upload the required documents: national ID or birth certificate, KCSE result slip or certificate, and passport-size photographs.
  • Pay the application fee as instructed on the portal.
  • Wait for the selection results, which are typically published on the portal.
  • Upon selection, report to the allocated campus with original documents for verification and registration.

KMTC offers two categories of admission: Regular (government-sponsored, subsidised fees, no campus choice) and Parallel (self-sponsored, non-subsidised fees, campus of choice available, no accommodation option).
