Alumna and history of Mama Ngina Girls
Founders of this coastal Girls School sought to repurpose the underutilized Mama Ngina Hostel in Mombasa County.
The Institution built in 1988 has continually prospered under the following mistresses.
- 1988-1990: Mrs. Lucy Mwawasi – She paved the way for the school’s foundational growth
- 1991-1993: Ms. Beata Mkok – She strengthened academic and co-curricular frameworks
- 1993-2016: Mrs. Samba Rassul – Oversaw significant infrastructural and academic advancements
- Jan-April 2017: Mrs. Fatma A. Athman – Ensured continuity during transitional periods
- May- present 2017: Mrs. Mwanahamisi Omar – Instrumental in the school’s relocation and modernization efforts
The school population is estimated at 1,000 learners.
Relocation to Shanzu
Limited space and infrastructure occasioned the relocation of Mama Ngina Girls High School to Shanzu in the North Coast of Mombasa County.
The relocation followed a 20 acre land donation from Shimo La Tewa Boys High School.
As we speak, the institution has already completed the following amenities;
- 20 tuition blocks and 30 administrative offices
- A dormitory with a capacity for 1,000 students
- A dining hall accommodating 2,000 students and expansive sports grounds
- A modern library with over 10,000 books
