History of the University of Nairobi

The University of Nairobi was founded in 1956 as the Royal Technical College of East Africa.

It excelled as a part of the University of London until1964 when it was incorporated as a constituent college of the University of East Africa.

In 1970, the college was renamed as the University of Nairobi following the dissolution of the University of East Africa.

UoN has since expanded its academic reach with multiple constituents such as Kenyatta University and Moi University.
