Kenya Coast National Polytechnic history
The Kenya Coast Polytechnic was originally established in 1950 under the name “Coast Technical High School”. In 1958, it was renamed the Technical High School of Mombasa.
When Kenya introduced the 8-4-4 system in 1984, the institution was elevated to a Technical Training Institute and renamed the Mombasa Technical Training Institute (MTTI).
Finally, in 2016 the institution was granted full “National Polytechnic” status via the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic Order (Legal Notice No. 88) under the TVET Act (No. 29 of 2013).
