Rift Valley National Polytechnic (RVNP), formerly known as Nakuru Technical and later Nakuru National Polytechnic, is one of the leading public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in Kenya. It offers a variety of programmes; artisan, certificate and higher diploma, thus producing skilled professionals who drive Kenya’s industrial and economic growth.

History

The Rift Valley National Polytechnic (RVNP) was established in 1979, in what was then the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. It was set up through community (“Harambee”) efforts and under the leadership of then-President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, who envisioned a technical training centre for the region.

Since then, it has grown significantly, offering a variety of programmes from artisan and certificate level all the way to higher diploma.

Rift Valley Polytechnic is located about 10 kilometres west of Nakuru town, along the Nakuru–Njoro Road in Nakuru County (Nakuru–Njoro Road, P.O. Box 7182–20100 Nakuru). It has its main campus in this semi-rural/industrial area and also town-campuses in Nakuru city.


This location places the it within reach of both urban amenities and a more spacious campus environment conducive to technical training (workshops, labs etc).
